Mindfulness for Academic Success (Graduate Students)

Mindfulness for Academic Success (MAS) is a 6-week, experiential program introducing mindfulness and meditation practices. Through guided meditations and reflective exercises, participants will develop their attention and awareness skills and cultivate insight and well-being.

Mindfulness has been described as paying attention, intentionally, to our moment-to-moment experience, non-judgmentally. Research shows that practicing mindfulness can reduce stress and worry, enhance focus and sustained attention, boost feelings of contentment, and help us to respond, rather than react, to stressful situations.

By participating in the MAS program, you can expect to:

  • Learn the difference between attention, awareness, and mindfulness
  • Practice meditation techniques to help cultivate attention and awareness
  • Gain the tools to start a daily meditation practice
  • Identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that lead to anxiety, self-doubt, and procrastination
  • Connect with and create a community with fellow graduate students

The 6-week, in-person program will run Mondays on the following dates and times in Winter 2026 (no class during reading week):

  • Jan 19th, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
  • Jan 26th, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
  • Feb 2nd, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
  • Feb 9th, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
  • Feb 23rd, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
  • Mar 2nd, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
