This session will start by inviting instructors to reflect on their core values as an educator and to explore how these values shape their pedagogical practices. Then we will examine different uses of generative AI in teaching and learning and discuss how these uses interact with different pedagogical values. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in self-reflection on how their own values align or conflict with different uses of generative AI and will develop a personal practices statement. Acknowledging that values can be in friction with each other and that generative AI is emergent, participants will also be provided with strategies to revisit their personal practices. This session will be of interest to any educator looking to better understand teaching as a values-based practice.
