Integrating Discussions and Group Activities/Assessments into Your Brightspace Content

Need to make changes to or reorganize Discussions and are not sure how? Thinking about how best to implement your Group Activity in Content? It's easier than you might think! We'll explore how Discussions and Groups can be tailored to match your course learning activities and/or assessments.     
In this workshop, you will: 

  • Configure Discussions for learning/assessment  
  • Determine how to integrate Discussions into Content  
  • Set up Groups for learning activities and assessments 
  • Determine how to integrate a Group activity or assessment into Content 
To prepare for the workshop, we recommend that you: 
1. Request your OWL Brightspace personal sandbox if you haven't already. Request your sandbox at Sandbox access can take up to a week and you'll be notified by email when it's ready.
2. Review the following sections of Western's OWL Brightspace Self-Guided Instructor Training and make note of any question or tasks related to the session description:
  • Phase III: Activities and Interactions (Discussion and Groups sections only

  1. Sign into OWL Brightspace at 
  2. On the purple tool bar at the top of the page, select "Help," then choose "Self-Guided Instructor Training."
