Own Your Future: Conference on Teaching

Jul 4, 2024 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Registration Deadline: Jul 4, 2024 08:10 AM

Your Future in Teaching: The Classroom and Beyond. The theme of this year's conference invites participants to explore how you take your teaching beyond the classroom. Whether you mentor and supervise learners, design educational resources, or dream up ways to connect your learners with the broader community, your teaching likely reaches beyond the walls (or webpage) of your classroom. This conference brings together innovative educators, working in different contexts and with different roles, to connect and think about how your teaching prepares you for your future both within and beyond the classroom.

The Own Your Future: Conference on Teaching is a special half-day event offered online on Friday, July 4th from 9:00am to 12:30pm. Participants are invited to join one or more conference sessions to enhance skill areas related to teaching, set personal goals for growth as instructors, and connect teaching experiences to their overall professional development as graduate students. New this year, participants are also able to access and complete the Clifton Strengths Assessment, to aid in setting strengths-based professional goals.

At this conference, graduate students and post-doctoral scholars may earn up to a total of two (2) Future Prof credits for the Western Certificate in University Teaching and Learning. Credits will be given for the following work:

  1. Attendance at Opening Plenary Session + attendance at one additional Conference Panel + Completion of the Future Prof Assignment = 1 credit
  2. Attendance at Opening Plenary Session + attendance at both additional Conference Panels + Completion of the Future Prof Assignment = 2 credits
For full conference details, visit the CTL's Own Your Future: Conference on Teaching webpage.
