Crafting Your Course Lessons in OWL Brightspace

May 16, 2024 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM

Registration Deadline: May 16, 2024 11:30 AM

If you plan on sharing content with students in your OWL Brightspace course site, don't miss this workshop! Unlike in OWL Sakai, course resources can't be shared with students from your course files (e.g. Resources in Sakai or Manage Files in Brightspace). Content will be the tool you use to share course materials and develop lesson pages.

In this workshop, you will get hands-on practice in building your course pages using the Content tool (the equivalent to Lessons in OWL Sakai). This includes adding files, videos, images, links, text, and using Content's HTML lesson pages and templates to create organized lessons.

In this workshop you will:

  • Differentiate between the Create New and Add Existing features for adding materials in Content
  • Create course pages (i.e., HTML documents)
  • Add to, edit, and configure Content material
To prepare for the workshop, we recommend that you:
  1. Request your OWL Brightspace personal sandbox if you haven't already. Request your sandbox at https://uwo.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2tQiAfWl7lt28R0. Sandbox access can take up to a week and you'll be notified by email when it's ready.
  2. Review the following sections of Western's OWL Brightspace Self-Guided Instructor Training and make note of any question or tasks related to the session description:
  • Phase II: Building Content
How to Access Western's Self-Guided Instructor Training:
  1. Sign into OWL Brightspace at westernu.brightspace.com
